How long can a person live off the oxygen in water? About 1 day…
I was sitting in my office wondering if I had to break down water into H2 and O using Electrolysis, how long could I live on the O2 produced. This same mechanism is used on the international space station to make some of the oxygen for the astronauts living there.
I did the calculations (see below), and determined that a person can live for about 1.15 days on one liter of water, when electrolysis is used to obtain O2 from H2O.
